"Terrorist Monkeys" a Huge Environmental and Human problem in eThekwini Metro
Monkey terrorists “terrorize” guests including tourists and
business owners throughout the City of Durban and the eThekwini Metro.
More and more restaurant owners, mall owners and managers as
well as private individuals from around the City have been contacting me in
regards to “terrorist attacks” by
troops of problem monkeys which are ruining their businesses.
This is what a
manager at one of the biggest entertainment and hospitality venues in the
Durban area reported to me yesterday
The monkey problem has increased steadily over the last few
years, although we sought advice and implemented what we had been advised to do,
the situation has now become unbearable, the monkeys have now reached a stage
where they are virtually impossible to control.
Monkeys are coming into the restaurants and guests are being
harassed for meals which are being stolen from their hands.
It is impossible for guests to enjoy a day out on the
sundeck as food items are being stolen directly from their plates.
Restaurants face enormous amounts of rude entry as these
animals tend to steal directly of the tables and often do their toiletry
business right on the tables inside the Restaurants.
Staff can no longer carry lunch bags as they are literally
being attacked and their bags stolen from them.
Cars are being scratched, dented and damaged.
Visits my monkeys have become a daily occurrences and this
affects our image and our guests perceptions which is affecting our business
and the image of Durban as a tourist destination.
Going to the once tranquil tea garden at Botanic Gardens
used to be a pleasure but no longer because of “Terrorist attacks” made by
problem monkeys. These scenarios are now becoming commonplace throughout the city.
These marauding bands of “monkey terrorists” are no doubt
becoming a treat to Durban as a tourist destination in particular in the light
of the forthcoming Common Wealth Games that are due to be hosted in 2022 if
urgent solutions are not found to this huge environmental problem which is now
also starting to affect Durban’s tourist industry.
Can we afford to loose one single tourist due to an
unresolved monkey problem or worse still to totally ruin Durban’s reputation as
a tourist destination with huge job losses when South Africa has such a need to
provide jobs.
Please report all incidents of “terrorist attacks” by troops
of problem monkeys in writing to your local councilor demanding action as well
as sending a letter to the City Manager.
